The Benefits of Marijuana Tea

By Rolling Up

Marijuana infused teas are becoming increasingly popular and more mainstream nowadays. It’s not a modern day invention by any means. Cannabis tea has been around for hundreds of years and has been used for its anesthetic and anti-inflammatory properties. In history, it has been used to treat conditions such as epilepsy and aid childbirth to prevent headaches and nausea.

What makes cannabis tea so effective is that it has the ability to bind to the body’s central nervous system to block pain. It can provide long term effects over smoking and vaping, which are usually short term. It’s a more gentle way to consume cannabis without smoking. Tea is brewed from the plant and the build time with the tea takes much longer than smoking because anything ingested is delayed due to the fact that it’s being processed by the digestive system.

The active compounds in cannabis tea can provide incredible relief for stomach pains such as cramps, diarrhea, constipation, and acid reflux. Finding the right dose that works for you will take some trial and error. With all cannabis products, work on trying a small dose. We recommend trying a ½ a cup per day then work your way up to a level that suits you. If you’re a semi-regular drinker, work with one cup every 24 hours as a starting point then if you find that it works for you try doing 2 cups, one in the morning and one before bed if you find the medicinal properties work for you.

The THC contained in a cup will depend on what type of plant you end up getting. If you’re using a gram of cannabis it’s 10 percent of THC. As with all teas, strength depends on how long you allow it to steep. Cannabis teas will take somewhere between 30-90 minutes to settle in after you feel the effects. Every person is different, it depends on metabolism.

If you’re curious about brewing your own cannabis tea at home make sure to find a reputable source that’s organic and tested. Here’s how to make your own at home:

Cannabis Tea Ingredients

  • Cannabis infused honey (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons of ground cannabis trim, stems, or bud
  • 1.5 cups of water

  1. You can choose to decarboxylate your weed beforehand if you would like to get more of THCA or THC effect. THCA doesn’t get you high, but rather the precursor to the psychoactive effects of THC.
  2. Add the flowers and steep for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Enjoy all of the benefits!
